I came across some old photos of my daughter’s 5th birthday party. That year, we did a “Beach” theme. I had a large inflatable pool set up under canopy and a slip and slide nearby. It was a large one that had mini inflatable boogie boards.
In between splashing and sliding, I wet down our sand area and the kids made a few sand castles. (Didn’t think to take pictures. Who knew I’d be blogging about it years later???)
For the food, I served “octopus” hot dogs. Here is a Pinterest link showing how to make them – Octopus. We also had carrots and ranch, Goldfish Crackers and Swedish Fish. I kept it very kid-friendly.
Here are the “Beach Cupcakes”. I added a few drops of blue food coloring to white frosting. Then I sprinkled graham cracker crumbs for the “sand”, a Gummy Saver life preserver, chewy candy beach ball & umbrella.
Not a great photo, but you get the idea.
For decorations, I went to Party City and got some beach/surf themed items – table cloth/runner, fish and seahorse cut outs and some hanging lanterns. The goodie bags had a flower lei, and individual packets of Goldfish and Gummy Savers. This party was very {simple} and affordable.
