Here are some of my household tips to help life and clean up a little easier!

Stove Splatters. I often have a hard time cleaning up splatters without lots of scrubbing. Now that my kiddos are starting to cook, the spills and splatters are a pretty frequent occurrence in our kitchen.  To clean without scratching, try sprinkling some baking soda on the mess, then scrub with a sponge dipped in hydrogen peroxide. The peroxide will disinfect while softening the grime, and the baking soda will act as a non-abrasive buffer.

Permanent Marker Stains. More than once, I accidentally used a permanent marker in place of a dry erase and didn’t realize it until it was too late! Have no fear! Just use some rubbing alcohol on a cloth and allow it to sit on the stain for about a minute, then gently rub until the stain is removed.

Dusting a Lamp Shade. To easily dust a cloth lamp shade, us a lint roller! Its quick and easy! I recently discovered “The Schticky Reusable Lint Roller”. I was skeptical, but I have to admit that we are really liking them! They clean up so easily with warm water! There are 3 sizes in the package and I use the medium one for my lamp shades. (The larger one with the long handle is awesome for the car and removing pet hair from furniture!)

Scuff Marks on Walls and Baseboards. Use a Magic Eraser! The scuffs should easily come off. Make sure you rinse your Magic Eraser during cleaning to make sure you are not pushing dirt around!

Paint Tray Liners. You get all set up for painting and realize you’ve forgotten the liners! No worries! Just line your paint try with aluminum foil for easy clean up! I especially like using foil when I only have a small area to paint. Great for touch-ups!

Stains In Your Mug. Even the dishwasher doesn’t always remove coffee and tea stains from your mug. Use a magic eraser to easily remove the stains!

Scuff Marks in Your Kitchen Sink. I’ve had both white and almond colored kitchen sinks and it seemed like every time I put a pot in the sink, it was full of scuff marks. A friend suggested I try Barkeeper’s Friend and it worked like a charm! Wet the area and allow to drain. Apply the Barkeeper’s Friend, then gently scrub with a damp cloth or sponge, then rinse. Your sink will sparkle! I have also used it to clean my stainless steel baking pans. It removes baked on stains really well! I keep one in my kitchen and one in my bathroom to clean my bath tub! I don’t have shower doors, but I’ve heard of this used to successfully clean the soap scum and hard water spots.
