Do you buy ground beef or turkey in bulk? I used to just store it in my freezer, packaged “as is”. My mother-in-law was visiting one day and I had just returned from Costco. She proceeded to open all the packages and browned all the turkey! Once cooled, she divided it up into quart size freezer bags (about 1lb. in each) and neatly stacked them in my freezer.
At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to like this idea, but it has proven to be absolutely GENIUS! Our schedule often gets very full and I usually forget to pull something out of the freezer for dinner. Having this ground turkey(or beef) already cooked has been so helpful! It defrosts quickly. I can whip up tacos, enchiladas, taco salad, spaghetti, chili, etc., in no time!
Since then, I have also cooked large batches of shredded chicken or pork and stored them the same way in my freezer. This TIP has made dinner on a busy weeknight so much better!
