Have you seen those bags of Brownie Brittle for $7.99 at the “wholesale store”? My kiddos BEG me to buy it every time we see it and if they’re sampling the brownie brittle, watch out! I just can’t bring myself to spend $8 on something that I can make for about $2. After a few months of begging and pleading, I finally gave in and made some at home. It was SO {simple}!
- 1 Box Brownie Mix of Choice
- 1/4 Cup + 1 TBSP Water
- 1/4 Cup Oil (not olive)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until a thick batter forms. Prepare a baking sheet or pan by lining it with foil, then coating with cooking spray. Evenly spread batter in a very thin layer. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and score the brownies into pieces. If the brownies are still soft, return to over for another 5-10 minutes, then check again. Now if they’re still not crisp, turn off your oven and place pan back in for another 5-10 minutes. Just make sure they are not beginning to burn. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely. Once cooled, break apart at the scores. Store in an airtight container.
If you want to mix things up a little, you can add a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to batter. Another option would be to use mint flavored chips. I also think using the caramel morsels would be good too!
