Static cling seems to happen more often in the winter months when the air is dry and the heat is on. But thats not the only issue. There is likely static electricity in your home at the same time. Overall, you can reduce static electricity in your home by trying some of these tips.
- Try using a humidifier. Adding moisture to the air will help. If you don’t have one, you can also boil a large pot of water on your stove. The steam will absorb in the air.
- Rub dryer sheets on upholstery (and even your clothes to reduce static cling).
- Moisturize your skin! Dry skin can actually add to static electricity and shocks. It can also help when your clothing is clinging to your skin!
- If you don’t have an anti-static spray, you can use aerosol hairspray in a pinch!
- Wear leather-soled shoes so the electricity can flow freely through your body. Rubber shoes lock the electricity all in one place, increasing likelihood for shocks!
