Last week I was getting my hair done and the salon had the cutest chocolate peanut butter turkeys for sale. There was an adorable display of Thanksgiving themed candies. I was hungry so…I had to buy one. As I’m eating it, I started thinking about how easy were to make, and better yet, Halloween candy was now half off!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Turkeys Supplies:
- Regular Sized Peanut Butter Cups
- Mini Peanut Butter Cups
- Candy Corn
- Candy “Eyes”
- Mini M&Ms in Red, Orange, or Yellow
- 1/4 – 1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips
- Canola or Coconut Oil, approx 1/2 tsp
Begin by laying out your supplies. I found that the chocolate melts really easily when handled, so its best to have everything laid out and easy to reach. Before assembling the chocolate peanut butter turkeys, you will need to prepare the “glue” that will hold everything together.
In a small microwave safe bowl, add the chocolate chips and oil. Since I only made 6 chocolate peanut butter turkeys I only used about 1/4 cup of chips and added not quite 1/2 tsp of oil. Quickly coat the chips with the oil and microwave for 15-20 second intervals, mixing in between. My chips were mostly melted in about 35 seconds and after mixing for a minute, the chocolate was smooth and ready for spreading.
Add a thin layer of melted chocolate on the full sized peanut butter cup, then place a mini peanut butter cup on the lower half, gently securing it.
Add four candy corns above the mini peanut butter cup to make the turkey “feathers”, gently pressing them into the layer of melted chocolate. Using a tiny bit of melted chocolate, attach the candy eyes and mini M&M to create the beak.
Allow the melted chocolate to set and secure the candy pieces together. This was so fast & easy and these Chocolate Peanut Butter Turkeys are SO CUTE! They would be a fun addition to your Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving desert table!
