Is foot odor a problem you are constantly dealing with??? Having teens pretty much guarantees this issue for most of us! I’ve been making this foot spray for quite awhile now and I have to say it works REALLY WELL!
I used to think that foot odor was reserved for running shoes or cleats, but I discovered that dance shoes may be one of the worst offenders! I will never forget the first time I was in a small room with about 8 girls changing out of the pointe shoes… I have no words… Lets just say that the next day, I was researching ways to keep that odor at bay. There are various reasons why foot odor occurs, but the most common reason odor occurs is when the sweat has nowhere to evaporate. Bacteria is present on our skin and it eats the sweat, which produces and acid that causes the odor. A lot of kids don’t wear socks. Socks absorb some of the perspiration and if you have really sweaty feet, its just not enough.
While researching, I found that Tea Tree, Peppermint and Lavender oils were referenced with foot care.
Tea Tree: A natural deodorizer, sanitizing, antifungal properties, anti-inflammatory properties
Peppermint: Soothing, refreshing, relieves itching, anti-inflammatory properties, antimicrobial
Lavender: Calming, good for chapped skin, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties
Mixing them together seemed to make perfect sense and they work well together to make a refreshing scent! This foot spray is incredibly simple to make!
