I am a cosmetic junkie. I love, love, love makeup, though you’d be surprised at how little time I actually want to spend applying it. Or how much I’m willing to wear. I am always looking for a quick TIP to speed up the process, but without compromising “fabulous”. Here are some helpful time saving TIPs for those days when you don’t feel like doing your makeup need dash out the door, without looking like it!
Even if you don’t have the time for full makeup, you can spend 5 minutes and look refreshed and ready to go!
The 5 Minute Face –
- Use a stick foundation, that can double as a concealer. Some options may be Stila, Shiseido, Maybelline, ranging between $9-$40.
- Multi-task with a cheek & lip stain.(I always think of Posie Tint by Benefit first. Other popular brands include Stila and Nars. Prices range from about $25-35.)
- Bright eyes – Use a white or other light, bright eyeshadow. You can use powder or pencil. If you don’t wear eyeshadow, then lining the inside of your lower lid can instantly brighten tired eyes.
- Curl your lashes and finish with a volumizing mascara.
Another time saver can be using a Tinted Moisturizer. This can easily eliminate a step or two in the process. Tinted moisturizers give you both the benefit of your moisturizer, with enough color so you can skip the foundation. Most will have SPF and a light, but flawless finish. Prices range, but on average, you can spend between $20 and $80. Think of how much a good moisturizer and foundation would cost separately. Some of the popular brands are Tarte, Dermalogica, Laura Mercier, Mary Kay and Lancome.
Can’t bear to skip your favorite foundation? – No worries, you can still use it AND save a step when you’re in a crunch. This next great TIP comes from Fashion & Beauty Blogger Leona Lovely. You really ought to check out her blog. She’s got lots of great fashion and beauty advice!
Mix a drop of your serum with your liquid foundation and apply with your fingers. It accomplishes two things in one simple step, and you’ll get even coverage without taking the time to use a foundation brush or a beauty blender. It really helps speed things up in the morning routine.
If you’re REALLY pressed for time, you can at least get away with just some mascara and lipstick. Mascara is MY bare minimum. When I’m headed to the gym first thing, I at least put mascara on. Once I’m done, if I need to run any errands before heading home, I add a bit of lip color. (You wouldn’t be rolling your eyes if you’ve seen me without makeup…) It really eliminates the “I just rolled out of bed look”.
Finally, one thing I get tired of is reapplying lipstick all day long. I usually give up after the first touch up. Here is a little TIP to try out – Begin by covering your lips with concealer. Allow it to sit for a few minutes until it dries. Next apply your lipstick! It should last much longer! I got a good 3-4 hours out of it which is stellar for me! I rarely get more than an hours worth of coverage.
