My sinuses were so bad this week that I was teetering on the edge of vertigo. I was miserable! I looked up various home remedies and gathered several items said to help what ailed me.
First, I picked up a bottle of Cold & Sinus Blaster. This stuff is incredible! Its got horseradish, echinacea, garlic, cayenne, peppermint and a whole lot more. I take a dropper full in a glass of water and immediately feel the warmth in my sinuses. (I did this morning and evening)
Then I read that Eucalyptus oil can aid in clearing the sinuses when inhaled. I put a few drops on a cotton ball and placed it in a cup. I inhaled the vapors periodically through the day.
The other items I’ve used for colds or flu:
- Raw Honey
- Organic Lemons
- Ginger
- Cinnamon
- Cayenne
We’ve always mixed honey and lemon for coughs and sore throats, and I’ve seen honey and cinnamon mixtures on Pinterest for the treatment of colds. I thought why not mix these all together give it a try.
I added the cayenne because I usually desire spicy foods when I feel like this. (In fact, I also had habanero salsa and it certainly burned cleared me up real quick!) I don’t recommend this to others. I nearly gave myself an ulcer with that flaming hot salsa!
Mix one half to one whole sliced lemon, a teaspoon of chopped fresh ginger, a teaspoon of cinnamon and a sprinkle of cayenne. Add about a cup or so of the honey. I store it in the fridge to keep the lemons from spoiling. I either ate a spoonful every few hours or added it to my water or tea.
The Verdict – In 24 hours I was feeling great (other than the upset stomach from that salsa)
